The MoD's Defence Food Services Team (DFS Team) is responsible for the management and financial control of the supply of food to the Armed Forces. DFS Team forms part of the Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S).

Purple Foodservice Solutions is the prime contractor responsible for the worldwide supply of food and bottled water to UK service personnel. To facilitate the contract DBC Foodservice and Supreme Foodservice deliver the food on their behalf. DBC supply to UK units, HM Ships and Submarines, exercises and operations. Supreme Foodservice manages all overseas delivery to MoD locations in Germany, Afghanistan, Norway and Belize, as well as to the Falkland and Ascension Islands.

The contract seeks a value for money approach in procuring an efficient, effective and economical food supply to troops throughout the globe.

PFS operates a quality management system which monitors service delivery and quality assurance. Regular surveys of customer satisfaction are carried out and end-user product evaluation panels provide input on the brand preferences of all-ranks.
