The consortium of shareholders established Purple Foodservice expressly to bid for and win the Worldwide Food Supply Contract awarded by the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence.

The Contract was awarded on 23 June 2006 and extends to 30 September 2011, with provision for two 2-year extensions. The contract was fully taken up on 1 October 2006.

Purple Foodservice partners operate out of two UK depots in Petersfield in Hampshire and Dundonald in Ayrshire, with overseas depot locations in Germany, Afghanistan and Belize.

PFS partners also supply all MoD foodservice requirements for the Falkland and Ascension Islands.
